When is the ideal time to water based on how perky the leaves are?

So we all know the leaves do a little dance throughout the day. They wake up around lights on and perk up for the day until a few hours before lights off and they start to droop. And they also do this dance based on how much water they are consuming.

Should I water as soon as the leaves start to droop from lack of water? Or should I let them droop a wee bit before watering? How about even longer than a wee bit? When is the ideal time to hit them with water?

Note: I cannot adequately perform the lift test because of how low and tight my trellis is. I’ve been slapping the sides of the pot to feel how hollow it is and have been looking at leaf droop via a Wyze cam.
